Both single coat and two-coat seals were applied, depending on whether the spray seal served as the final wearing course or an intermediate layer. A combination of C170, C240, and S45R binders was used to meet the specific engineering and performance requirements of each site. A common style of seal utilised on stabilised pavements is a 1st coat straight bitumen seal such as C170 followed by a modified binder on the 2nd coat, such as S45R.
